Biography

How would it sound if Earth was as a singer-songwriter in a 1.97 m tall male body?

Pontus Liljefors is a Swedish singer-songwriter, with his roots among the pine trees and blueberry shrubs in the archipelago of Stockholm. (Wait, that’s me!).

I think of my music as a voice from the edge between our dying world and the one yet to be born. My singing is a declaration of love to the miracle of life, and I blend the lyrical Scandinavian tradition with epic chorals and electronic elements. My wish is to invite humanity to the altar of life and sing a new world into being.

I was born in Lund, Sweden in 1988 and joined my first choir at 5. Through my teenage years I played the cello, trumpet and piano (yes it was too much!), and studied at the Lars-Erik Larsson music high school. After high school, I pursued a classical singing path, studying at Vadstena Voice Academy and at the Royal Academy of Music Stockholm. I learnt a lot, yet I felt a bit constricted from the classical music culture. After a ten-year break, where I engaged in climate activism and working as a sustainability engineer, I came back to music in 2020 in my own way after a deep inner journey.

Right now I’m probably sitting in a forest listening to the squirrels and robins and working on my first release, with the first song “Emerge” being planned for launch in the beginning of June.
